Board of Equalization Nominations Open

The City of Tuscaloosa is accepting resumes to submit three nominations to the Tuscaloosa County Board of Equalization pursuant to Section 40-3-2 of the Code of Alabama (1975).
 
The Tuscaloosa County Board of Equalization oversees the hearings regarding property valuation appeals. This board is responsible for evaluating evidence presented by the citizens during the appeal process subsequently making a fair, independent, impartial and objective decision guided by the legal standard in Alabama. 
 
In order to be eligible, nominees must have resided in the county for at least five years, own taxable real property within the county, be registered as a qualified elector and not currently hold any public office or government employment. 
 
Nominations will be sent to the Alabama Department of Revenue, along with the nominations from other governing bodies. Within 30 days after the receipt of the list of nominees, the state Commissioner of Revenue, with the approval of the Governor, will appoint 3 members. Appointees will serve 4-year terms.
