On the evening of September 16, 2019, Tuscaloosa Police Officer Dornell Cousette was killed in the line of duty protecting the citizens of Tuscaloosa. Investigator Cousette served at the Tuscaloosa Police Department for 13 years.
He was a standout agent for the juvenile division, dedicated to fighting child sexual and physical abuse. During his time with the Tuscaloosa Police Department, he earned several departmental awards of excellence for his service and dedication to the youth of Tuscaloosa. Investigator Cousette also served in the US Military.
He was 40 years old and leaves behind a fiancée and 2 young daughters.

Bryant-Denny Memorial at The University of Alabama
What: The University of Alabama will honor the life of Tuscaloosa Police Investigator Dornell Cousette. Bryant-Denny Stadium will be illuminated in blue lights.

A Tuscaloosa police vehicle will also be parked at the Walk of Champions until noon Friday, Sept. 20. Members of the community are welcome to visit the vehicle and pay their respects.
Candlelight Vigil at Government Plaza
What: The City of Tuscaloosa is hosting a candlelight vigil for Investigator Dornell Cousette, who died in the line of duty protecting the people of Tuscaloosa.
