The Mayor's Advisory Council for People with Diverse Abilities (MACPDA) seeks to fulfill the following purposes:
· To increase public awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
· To recommend improvements in public and private facilities which will enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities.
· To provide information regarding resources related to disabilities.
· To advocate for the removal of barriers to employment for people with disabilities.
· To secure the active cooperation of a broad spectrum of the public in order to accomplish the goals, objectives, and functions of the Council.
· To respond to specific issues brought before the Council.
· To advise the Mayor and city council on issues related to disabilities.

MACPDA meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 11:30am in the Daugherty Conference Room located on the 2nd floor of Tuscaloosa City Hall. The meetings are open to the public and all interested persons are invited to attend.
