Mayor Walter Maddox Releases Local Emergency Declaration Declaring Roads Impassable

Tuscaloosa, Ala. €” City of Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox released a local emergency declaration allowing for restrictions under emergency powers. These restrictions went into effect at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 and declared all roads in Tuscaloosa impassable until further notice.This restricts all vehicular traffic on streets and other public ways under control of the City of Tuscaloosa. Exceptions include emergency vehicles, health providers and employees, employees and volunteers of disaster relief organizations, vehicles operated by or on behalf of federal, state or municipal governments and travel reasonably necessitated by an emergency.The declaration in its entirety can be found here.The declaration will remain in effect until roads have been deemed safe for public use. The public and media will be notified when this occurs.
